Nova Scotia's Best View of Bay of Fundy Tides

Cape Split and Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia
Question:  Bernie Campbell asks:  We are going to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and would like to know the best place to stop overnight and see the Bay of Fundy.  What are your recommendations for accommodations and good dining?

Answer:  Kyla Prince, travel planner at the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia CAA office says:  I suggest that you stay anywhere between Digby, Nova Scotia and Wolfville, Nova Scotia.  Use TripTik Travel Planner to view the area Zoom out to get anoverview, zoom in to see icons that mark the locations of AAA Approved hotels and restaurants, as well as attractions, places you can get member discounts, and more.  Just click the Show button to display the icons and zoom in to see them.  You can also book your hotel stays right from the maps.  This route through the valley is also a AAA/CAA designated scenic byway and it skirts along the coast.

You could also visit Fundy National Park in New Brunswick.  The park is a AAA GEM bay of fundyattraction which offers many summer activities and interpretive programs.  Also nearby is Hopewell Cape which is a wonderful place to view the tides.  Be sure to stop at the Hopewell Rocks Ocean Tidal Exploration Site, another GEM attraction and offers a discount to members on the price of admission.  Just show your AAA/CAA membership card.  The center has viewing decks to watch the tides.  You can even walk the beach below the rocks from three hours before low tide until three hours after low tide.

I was in Nova Scotia and Canada in July. In my opinion, the best way to view the tides is in Bay of Fundy National Park in Canada, and especially at the Hopewell Rocks. At low tide you can walk on the beach and around the rocks, and at high tide, you can Kayak around the rocks.
Digby, Nova Scotia is a lovely little town and the harbor is very cute. Eat the best scallops you have ever had there. We also went whale watching which was fabulous.
We also went to Cape Breton. Definitely spend at least three days there if you like hiking and seeing nature, moose, seashore, etc.The drive along the Cabot Trail is breathtaking.
Have a ball and take some warm clothing.

Great advise Roni and Kyla. I work for Nova Scotia Tourism. Digby Scallops are famous, as is the whale watching there. It's a rich feeding area so you'll see all species as well as several other animals and birds. I would also add that Joggins Fossill Cliffs on the Bay of Fundy, a Unesco World Heritage is a place where you can explore history from 300 millions years ago. Their is an Interpretive Centre there where you can learn more, but you can explore the cliffs as well!
