Q&A: Things to Do in Sedona, Arizona

Golf Course in Sedona, Arizona
Question: Charles Sotiropoulos asks:  I plan to visit Sedona, Arizona, and would like tips on lodging and the best time of year to visit.  I have many varied interests including golf, sightseeing, horseback riding, plus local hangouts.

Answer: Dave Jankus, travel planner at the AAA office in Phoenix says: Sedona is one Arizona's premier destinations. Although Sedona is in the northern and cooler part of the state, it is in a valley and during the summer temperatures can reach into the 100's. The best time to visit is in the fall or spring.  Oak Creek which flows through the area has many lodging opportunities on its shores.  Several companies offer four wheeling jeep tours.  Resorts offer golf and horseback riding.  All of these can be found in the Arizona TourBook guide.  Members can request a free TourBook at the nearest AAA office.  The best part is the Grand Canyon is only a two hour drive away.

I have a timeshare in Sedona and have been there many times. So many great things to do in and around Sedona; jeep tours, helicopter tours, great hiking, and the many wineries in Page Springs. Two places I highly recommend to see in Sedona are the Enchantment Resort for breakfast or lunch and its breathtaking view. It is a gated community but anyone can eat at their restaurant. Then an afternoon at Tlaquepaque shops and a walk behind the shops which is Oak Creek. They perform weddings there. For a fun day trip, go to Jerome or ride the Grand Canyon Railway (about 70 miles from Sedona). They also have a beautiful chapel that is a "must see". Enjoy!
